Appenzeller Sennenhund

The Appenzeller Sennenhund, also known as the Appenzell Mountain Dog, is a medium-sized breed of dog that originated in Switzerland. This breed belongs to the Sennenhund family of four regional breeds including Bernese Mountain Dogs, Entlebucher Mountain Dogs and Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs.

Physical Appearance:
Appenzellers are muscular dogs with strong bones. They stand about 18-23 inches at shoulder height and weigh between 50-70 pounds. The coat type of an Appenzeller can vary from short-haired to longer-haired with black or brown fur combined with white or tan markings on their chest, feet and face. Their eye color can be dark brown or hazel depending on their coat color.

Temperament:
One trait common among all Sennenhunds is their loyalty towards family members but wariness toward strangers; this makes them excellent guard dogs.They are friendly around children and other pets when socialized properly during puppyhood but may tend to be dominant if not trained correctly.
