Pyrenean Mastiff Description

The Pyrenean Mastiff is a large dog that originates in Spain. It has a head which is massive and powerful, and the skull should be slightly circular in shape. The muzzle should have the shape of a rectangle, and should taper near the large nose. The ears are moderate in size, and will be shaped like triangles. They should hang near the cheeks of the dog.  The eyes should be small and almond shaped, and the ideal color will be hazel. The body of a Pyrenean Mastiff should be a bit longer than its height. The body should be powerful, and the tail should be dense at the base. The Pyrenean Mastiff has a coat which is thick, and it should be black, silver, brown, gray, or yellowish.

Because of their size, the Pyrenean Mastiff may be prone to developing hip dysplasia. However, they are a healthy breed that does not suffer from a large number of health problems. The Pyrenean Mastiff has a maximum life expectancy of about 13 years.
