Portuguese Pointer Description

The Portuguese Pointer is a dog breed that originates in Portugal. It has commonly been used as a gun dog, and it is well suited to this purpose. This dog has an appearance that is very impressive. The body frame of these dogs should have the shape of a square, and the tail should be held down when the dog is not active, but even with the top of the back when it is excited. The Portuguese Pointer has a short coat that will not need extensive amounts of grooming. Owners will simply want to make sure the coat is brushed or combed on a consistent basis. A damp towel or chamois may also be used to give the coat an impressive shine. These dogs should only be bathed when they need it. The Portuguese Pointer may only shed a standard amount of fur.
