The Norwegian Elkhound will have a head that is shaped like a wedge, and the stop should be prominent. This is a breed that has powerful jaws, and their ears should be erect. Their eyes should have a dark color, and their faces should convey the impression of kindness. The teeth of the Norwegian Elkhound should form a scissors bite. ExerciseThese dogs have large amounts of endurance, and need to get excessive amounts of exercise. Owners will want to make sure they exercise for one hour each day. These dogs make excellent jogging partners, but they should not be allowed to run off on their own. If they pick up a scent that interests them, they will not respond to your commands. Special Grooming NeedsThe dogs have tough coats which are resistant to extreme weather. They are easy to groom, and owners will simply want to brush them consistently. When the Norwegian Elkhound begins to shed, extensive care must be given to making sure it is properly groomed. Owners will want to use a brush to take off any dead hair that may be present. This breed should only be given baths when they need it.
