Miniature Bull Terrier Pictures and Information

Miniature Bull Terrier Description

The Miniature Bull Terrier is a powerfully built dog that has a coat which is short and smooth. The acceptable coat colors for these dogs are black, brindle, fawn, red, and a combination of these colors. One of the first things people will notice about this dog is its head. It is flat near the zenith, but will slope downward, and does not feature a stop. The eyes should be small with the shape of almonds, and the body should have a circular frame. The Bull Terrier should always hold their tails in a horizontal fashion.

Country of Origin

United Kingdom

Temperament

While these dogs were originally bred to be ferocious fighters, much of these traits have been bred out of them. While the Bull Terrier will still defend themselves and their owners if they are threatened, they are not designed to be guard dogs. These dogs are loving, reliable, and even comical. They are obedient to those that care for them, and they will build a strong bond with their owners. This breed makes the ideal family pets. If you are thinking of purchasing this dog, but you will have to leave it by itself for many hours each day, it is best for you not to purchase it. These dogs have lots of energy, and may not behave well with little children.

Health Problems

While Bull Terriers are healthy for the most part, they may suffer from a lack of zinc, and this could kill them. Some Bull Terrier puppies may be born without the ability to hear. Others may chase their tails too much, and some male Bull Terriers may be overly territorial. This breed should not be overfed, as they can easily gain weight. The maximum life expectancy for the Bull Terrier is 10 years.

Exercise

This breed is highly active, and owners will want to give them extensive amounts of exercise. Despite this, they should never be unleashed in public. If these dogs are not given the proper amount of exercise, they will be prone to weight gains and laziness. Owners should be careful when taking these dogs around other dogs, as they can get into fights easily. The Bull Terrier can live in apartments, but owners must make sure they get exercise.

Special Grooming Needs

These dogs are simple to groom, and owners will want to make sure their coats are combed and brushed every so often. These dogs will shed a standard amount of fur, and they will shed twice in a single year.
