These dogs originate in Switzerland, and are still rare outside the country. They were named after a place near the region of Lucerne. These dogs were bred to work in the mountains, and some believe that the Entlebucher Sennenhund is related to the Mastiff family, but little is known about its history. It should be taken on long walks, and it can also be unleashed to run as long as it is in a safe area. While these dogs can live in apartments, they may function better in a small to medium sized yard. Special Grooming NeedsThe Entlebucher Sennenhund has a coat which requires little maintenance. Owners will want to make sure it is brushed on a consistent basis, and this should be enough to groom it. These dogs will shed a standard amount of fur.
