Cesky Terrier Description

The Cesky Terrier is a dog that has short legs and an elaborate coat. The head is long, and it has a prominent beard with bushy eyebrows. Though the body is compact, it is not large. These dogs have excessive amounts of speed and agility. Their coats are wavy, and should either be grayish blue, tan, gray, or white in color. Coffee or yellow colored markings may be present as well. Cesky Terrier puppies will be born black in color, and the natural coat colors may not be present until the dog is two years old.

The eyes will either be yellow or brown, and the color of the eyes is dependent on the coat. The ears should have the shape of triangles, and while the head should be long, it should not be too broad.

The Cesky Terrier is a relatively new breed that was first developed during the 1960s. This dog was bred to hunt small pests such as foxes and rats, and its small size allows it to chase these pests into their dens.

Exercise

These dogs are athletic, and will enjoy running in wide open areas. Owners will want to make sure they are taken for extended walks on a consistent basis. Even though they are small in size, they are great for people who enjoy jogging. These dogs do not need extensive amounts of exercise, and can live fine in apartments.

Special Grooming Needs

The Cesky Terrier has a fine coat that owners will want to trim on a consistent basis. The hair on the stomach, face, and legs should be allowed to grow long. The coat will need to be trimmed at least four times a year, and show dog should be groomed more frequently than this.
