They originate in the United States, but are becoming popular around the world as the breed gets more air time on televised dog shows. TemperamentCanis Panthers are a very loving, sensitive breed. They are extremely loyal to their families. The breed is highly intelligent, making them an easy breed for obedience training. They can be aggressive if provoked and they are weary of strangers, making them excellent guard dogs. They are a very strong and powerful dog that can prove too much for small children. They may become aggressive with dogs of the same sex, so it is not recommended that they are in a home with other dogs of the same sex. Health ProblemsThere are no known health problems associated directly with this breed. The breed is a strong one, and one with a high threshold for pain. It is important that if you notice any cuts or limping, or you witnessed an accident involving your Canis Panther, that you have a vet do a check-up on them regardless if they are behaving as if they are hurt or not. But, this is also a new breed and there have not been any problems with genetic diseases yet due to inbreeding or other problems. ExerciseThe Canis Panther breed requires a great deal of exercise. They require a large fenced in yard to run and play in. Although they love being outside it is best that they are kept indoors at night and especially in cold weather as their coat is very short and does not offer much protection in colder temperatures. Special Grooming NeedsCanis Panthers require little to no grooming. Their coats are too short to comb or brush. They can be bathed only when necessary.
